Skateboard Parks

The city’s first skateboard park opened in April 1999 at Drake Springs Park next to the Drake Springs pool. A grassroots initiative from skating enthusiasts persuaded the city to support the park. The parks have rails, curbs and jumps for the daredevil skaters and certain hours are blocked out for trick bike riding. Helmets and kneepads are required, and rollerbladers must also wear wrist guards. The parks are free and open to the public from April to October.
