Day One

Breakfast: MB Haskett

Locals rave about MB Haskett’s crêpes, which are crafted in the French tradition (and taste great with a mimosa). Try both the sweet and savory option! The quiche is killer, too. Looking for a dinner hotspot? The chef prepares a special 3-course pre-fixe tasting menu Fridays and Saturdays.

Activity Idea: SculptureWalk

Our famous SculptureWalk hosts one-of-a-kind sculptures by global artists with a new line-up every year. You’ll find these varied works of art throughout downtown Sioux Falls. And because the outdoors is your gallery, you can grab a cupcake from Smallcakes or a latte from Coffea to enjoy while you walk.

Lunch: Josiah's

Try delicious flatbreads along with host of other light items such as sandwiches, wraps, soups and salad. Looking for something sweet? Try a slice of their gourmet pie!

After Lunch Drink: Strawbale Winery

Strawbale Winery, set in an idyllic farmyard setting complete with chickens, has a tasting room built with bales of straw. Live music, Sangria Sundays, and the Summer Porch Series on Thursdays mean you should pull up a lawn chair and relax in the sun awhile.

Activity Idea: Old Courthouse Museum or Pettigrew Home and Museum

The Old Courthouse was finished in 1893 and, at the time, was the largest courthouse between Denver and Chicago. Explore sixteen hallway murals painted in the early 1900’s, plus three floors of regional exhibits. The Pettigrew Home is an elegant Queen-Anne Style home of South Dakota’s first senator. Guided tours are available.

Dinner: Parker’s Bistro or Morrie’s Steakhouse

Enjoy an intimate candlelit dinner for two in this cozy upscale bistro! Start with the spring rolls served with cashew mustard, then savor Parker’s twist on grilled tenderloin, fresh fish (scallops are excellent!), or duck for dinner. Be sure to sample their famous pavlova for dessert. Or go to steak heaven at Morrie’s, who serves up savory ribeyes and bone-in tenderloins in an elegant, fine dining setting.

Day Two

Breakfast: Queen City Bakery

QCB proves a buttery croissant and savory quiche are all you need in life—apart from your favorite tea and coffee selection, that is. Prepare to window stare at made-from-scratch goods like turnovers, teacake, scones, and savory or sweet muffins.

Activity Idea: Golf

Whether you’re a seasoned golf pro or a newbie, Sioux Falls has several golf courses where you can practice your swing. Many courses are open to the public and all are well maintained, so hit up the driving range or snag a golf cart for a round of 18 holes. Don’t forget sunscreen!

Lunch: Cookie Jar Eatery or JL Beers

Cookie Jar has savory soup and sandwiches—plus the best homemade cookies and bars in town. Try the chicken salad or Cuban sandwiches on your choice of made-from-scratch bread. Or grab a juicy burger (like the Mt. Mushmore® topped with mushrooms!) and fresh-sliced chips at JL Beers.

Activity Idea: Falls Park

Pack a picnic with your spouse’s favorites and claim a spot on the lawn at Sioux Falls’ main attraction, Falls Park. No time to pack a picnic? The Overlook Café, located in the park, has a patio that sits right above the river. You and your main squeeze can enjoy a first-rate view of the famous Big Sioux River Falls while devouring a tasty hot sandwich or ice cream cone.

Dinner: Minerva’s

The best people watching spot in town, Minerva’s is a charming homage to the way restaurants use to be, with rich wood interiors and chandelier splendor. Or find a sunny spot on the patio, and enjoy classics like Chicken Oscar or Steak Michael with your glass of wine. You can always opt for the ever-popular, all-you-can eat salad bar, too.

After Dinner Drink: Paramount Studio

Full from dinner but not ready to go back to the hotel? Keep the evening going and head to Paramount Studio, next door to Minerva’s. Choose from a full bar and excellent wine list—and grab some dessert. Or relish some live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
